It’s been about a month since we’ve seen each other, and boy! SO much has happened!

ECOCUBBY
BeateAdfectus + Lady Gowrie Child Care Centre + VICarts
I’ve started to work with ECO-CUBBY, a VICarts initiative to teach little people about sustainable building practices. You can find them here. Architects (or in my case , graduate of architecture), is teamed up with a school and together we design a cubby, where we can apply all the wonderful things we’ve learnt about sustainability. Having not taught little people before, I was a tad nervous of the 40 odd 4 year olds that greeted me on my first visit.We’ve read stories, conducted site visits, drawn some cool hero shots, and had some serious conversations about the world around us.

KINO
We’re back onto it! Look out for KINO MELBOURNE which is set to launch around mid year 2011. It’s following on from the tradition of KINO Sydney, and KINO Adelaide. The general premise is to get non film makers and filmmakers alike to make films. The films can be about anything, but must follow the KINO guidelines. On the first Tuesday of each month we will have a screening of the films at Brolly Studios, on La Trobe Street in the city.
What else is there than just a bunch of films? We’re in the process of getting some local breweries on board at the moment. They’ll be weekly prizes, king and queen of shangpile island (more on this later) not to mention some yumyums for your after work tumtums….stay tuned….

I gotta job! Sadly it will change the wild studio-based life I’m leading at the moment- but I’m PRETTY silly excited about the whole thing!

HEIDE GALLERY OF MODERN ART
This project is still going, but has moved dates. Now in the WINTER school holidays, Beate Adfectus will be running a kids workshop on architecture at the Heide.
The title of the program is Empirical Adventures Through an Architectural Wonderland. Can;t say too much else about it right now, but if you got mini people about that need entertaining, come say hi!

PROCESS- June Edition
I’m in the process of getting together the list of speakers for this coming edition of PROCESS at LoopBar in Myers Pl.
The theme is Space Masters….
Typically architects are understood as jacks of all trades, masters of none. Happy in our chameleon guise, we flit through our days of space craft feeling at ease dodging specific question with rococo responses. This edition of process calls on masters of space craft from other disciplines, where they’ll share their stories of adventures through the wild frontiers of multiple dimensions.
